چکیده

The recovery of a high resolution geopotential from satellite gradiometer observations motivates the examination of high performance computational techniques. The primary subject matter addresses specifically the use of satellite gradiometer and GPS observations to form and invert the normal matrix associated with a large degree and order geopotential solution. Memory resident and out-of-core parallel linear algebra techniques along with data parallel batch algorithms form the foundation of the least squares application structure. A secondary topic includes the adoption of object oriented programming techniques to enhance modularity and reusability of code. Applications implementing the parallel and object oriented methods successfully calculate the degree variance for a degree and order 110 geopotential solution on 32 processors of the Cmy T3E. The memory resident gradiometer application exhibits an overall application performance of 5.4 Gflops, and the out-of-core linear solver exhibits an overall performance of 2.4 Gfiops. The combination solution derived from a sun synchronous gradiometer orbit produce average geoid height variances of 17 millimeters.

Localized spectral analysis of global satellite gravity fields for recovering time-variable mass redistributions

A spatiospectral localization method is discussed for processing the global geopotential coefficients from satellite mission data to investigate time-variable gravity. The time-variable mass variation signal usually appears associated with a particular geographical area yielding inherently regional structure, while the dependence of the satellite gravity errors on a geographical region is not s...

Increasing Accuracy of Combined GPS and GLONASS Positioning using Fuzzy Kalman Filter

In this paper, combined GPS and GLONASS positioning systems are discussed and some solutions have been proposed to improve the accuracy of navigation. Global Satellite Navigation System (GNSS) is able to provide position, velocity and time with respect to coordinated universal time. GNSS positioning is based on received satellite signals, so its performance is highly dependent on the quality of...

From the time-wise to space-wise GOCE observables

The observables of the GOCE three-axis gradiometer are taken in time, along the orbit and, in the timewise proposal, filtered to stay in the measurement bandwidth, i.e. in the frequency interval between 0.005 and 0.1 Hz. As a consequence, the resulting “observable” is a convolution of the original data stream with a time-wise weighting kernel. In other words, we cannot assume that the observati...

Validation of GPS receiver instrumental bias results for precise navigation

The positional accuracy of Global Positioning System (GPS) is affected by several errors, the most predominant error being the ionospheric delay. This delay is proportional to the total electron content (TEC). The dual frequency GPS observables can be used to estimate the TEC. The line-of-sight TEC estimated from dual frequency GPS data is corrupted by the instrumental biases of the GPS satelli...
